It’s back to school time, and looks like stores need to make room for new inventory. Fry’s Electronics had (one day only) the Canon Pixma MP620 on sale for $79.99. It includes a USB cable, scans to PDF, does wi-fi and wired networking, so already a bargain. If it could only do duplex printing (print both sides) too it would be a steal. For that either look at the Epson Stylus NX415 or wait for the newer model Canon MP640 which goes full auto duplex printing.
Speaking of Epson, Office Depot had $40 off the Stylus NX415/$59.99 and Stylus NX515/$109.99. The latter does wi-fi and wired networking, but neither includes a USB cable. At least the Epson models do manual duplex printing and scan to PDF via the software.
And if you were in the market for a laser printer, the Brother HL-2140 was $59.99 at Office Depot. At these prices, for basically the cost of ink replacements, how wrong can you go? FYI – These inkjets use 4 or 5 ink colors cartridges which cost about $14 each to replace. Toner (for laser printers) goes for about $50, but the consumer is still in the dark as there is no printed mL of ink/toner on the packaging!
Wish the All-in-ones here could do legal size printing-scanning-copying. Not many (?any) do from what I’ve seen. Oh well, that’s for the next upgrade I guess…
